Story Press Africa: African knowledge. African Stories. Worldwide.

Story Press Africa is a celebration of African knowledge.

Humankind emerged in Africa, and with humans came stories as a means for sharing knowledge between people, through the generations. The rich and vibrant storytelling tradition of Africa is reflected in the visually exciting and compelling narratives of Story Press Africa’s books, linking us all to our earliest roots and to one another. The first of these books, all a part of our African Graphic Novel Series, use the power of stories and sequential art to engage young adult audiences on African knowledge.

Our first release, Shaka Rising: A Legend of the Warrior Prince, was released in the United States in January 2018, and in South Africa in September of 2018. The story of this legendary Zulu leader continues with our forthcoming 2019 release documenting Shaka’s reign as king.

Submission Policy

Story Press Africa has a rigorous editorial process to ensure that stories are based in accurate historical and social contexts, whether presented as fiction or non-fiction.

Story Press Africa seeks innovative proposals for stories about African people and events. Writers and illustrators are invited to submit proposals individually or as a team. We welcome submissions worldwide but prioritize submissions from African writers and illustrators.
